Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) training for organizations helps clinicians deliver more effective, evidence-based care—leading to better client outcomes and stronger teams. Beck Institute provides training in CBT and Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) to organizations around the world through our organizational training program—or TFO. We provide training on a variety of topics designed to help leadership and staff in public and private health and mental health settings implement evidence-based CBT practices in their daily work. Training could include live in-person or virtual workshops, webinars, on-demand courses, consultation, supervision, and training pathways that support clinicians working toward CBT certification.
We also partner with organizations like nurse-led health centers and HR departments that are focused on improving workplace culture. We work closely with leadership to make sure the training fits the organization’s goals and supports staff in applying CBT competently and with fidelity. We design tailored curricula that meet organizations’ needs and the needs of the clients they serve.
Hear from Program Director Bonnie Nicolari and Account Specialist Emily Walsh as they discuss their work and what it means to make an impact.
What types of organizations and settings have you partnered with?

Bonnie and Emily: We have a vast network of Beck Institute faculty with diverse expertise, which allows us to work with a variety of organizations. We appeal to a wide range of industries! We work with public and private health and mental health systems, school districts, military settings, hospitals, universities, forensic settings, substance use and addiction treatment centers, residential facilities, long-term care homes, and many others.
How do you tailor the training to fit each organization’s specific population and goals?
Bonnie and Emily: We always start with being curious. We ask a lot of questions about the organization, its trainees, and their clients. What level of CBT knowledge are the therapists starting with? Who are their clients, what is their cultural, educational, and socioeconomic background, and what challenges do they commonly present? How often do the therapists typically meet with clients and for how many sessions? What are the clients’ aspirations and values? What are the therapists’ goals? We need to make sure to adapt our training so it brings maximum benefit to both clinicians and clients.
What are some of the ways the TFO program can support lasting change within organizations, rather than just providing a one-off training experience?
Bonnie and Emily: One way our program supports lasting change is by going beyond a single training. Our workshops provide the theoretical background and introduce key skills and techniques, but we also offer consultation and supervision so staff can keep developing their skills and apply what they’ve learned in their work with clients. These follow-up sessions give clinicians and teams a chance to ask questions, discuss cases, and get direct feedback as they implement CBT.

What would you say to an organization considering partnering with you?
Bonnie and Emily: Above all, we care deeply about both the staff we train and the clients they work with, and we aim to make a real difference in the lives of others. We enjoy working closely with organizations to help their teams build skills and improve outcomes for their clients. Our trainings are practical and evidence-based—and organizations often see reduced burnout, lower readmission rates, and higher staff retention.
What strengths do each of you bring to your work that make the program stronger?
Bonnie: Emily is amazing in so many ways! At the basic human level, she is kind, compassionate, personable, and thoughtful. One of her many strengths is her openness to new ideas. She’s excited to try different approaches and always thinks carefully about the needs of the teams and clients we serve. She thinks creatively and outside the box, which helps our program stay effective, responsive, and meaningful.
Emily: The continuous success of Training for Organizations is due to Bonnie! She is the heart and soul of TFO. She brings her years of knowledge and expertise to our clients. She is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Her warmth and care is reflected in our clients’ satisfaction. She shapes the supportive and thoughtful approach that defines our work.
Can you share a moment when you witnessed the impact of this work?
Bonnie and Emily: Because of the variety and flexibility of formats we offer, we’re able to reach communities where access to CBT has historically been limited, like rural areas of the United States, parts of Southern and Eastern Asia and the Middle East. We offer reduced on-demand pricing based on economic contexts, making training even more accessible. Knowing this means so much to us! We are so proud of the role our programs play in advancing mental health globally.
Where do you see CBT training for organizations going in the future?
Bonnie and Emily: Looking ahead, we are excited to bring our certification programs, including our newly launched youth certification, to more organizations and more settings, here in the US and abroad. We believe our strong programming will help us reach more people, support teams in strengthening their CBT skills, and continue promoting excellence in how CBT is practiced. Through these structured programs, we’re helping organizations to sustainably implement CBT, ultimately fulfilling our mission to improve lives worldwide.
