May is Mental Health Month, a time to raise awareness of mental health issues in the US, and to destigmatize the act of seeking treatment. At Beck Institute, we use this time to acknowledge our trainees and colleagues who are delivering evidence-based treatment to individuals with mental health conditions around the world. We understand that the efficacy of mental health treatment is often linked to the wellbeing of the clinicians who deliver it. Compassion fatigue, burnout, and occupational stress are well-documented challenges in the mental health profession, and addressing these concerns is critical to both clinician and client wellbeing.
In recognition of the contributions clinicians make to their clients and communities, Beck Institute is pleased to offer a free self-care resource that draws on CBT principles. This resource offers practical, evidence-informed strategies across three key areas:
- fostering meaningful social connection and community
- responding effectively to unhelpful thinking, and
- maintaining physical and psychological wellness.
We encourage clinicians at all stages of their careers to use these strategies regularly and make them a part of their personal and professional practice.
