On Sunday, April 26, 2026, Dr. Judith Beck was honored at the Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony of PSCP: The Philadelphia Psychology Network, held at the Joseph Ambler Inn in North Wales, Pennsylvania. The award was presented by Dr. Edward J. DiCesare, Chair of the Awards Committee, and Dr. Gerald T. O’Brien, President of PSCP, in recognition of Dr. Beck’s exemplary contributions to the profession of Psychology and Humanity.
The award citation reads:
“Dr. Beck has conducted her professional life preserving and extending the practice of Cognitive Behavior Therapy as president of the Beck Institute. As author, educator and trainer of CBT practitioners, Dr. Beck has continued to develop CBT’s influence worldwide. These accomplishments have brought honor to the profession of psychology and have positively contributed to humankind. Dr. Beck’s work has given her international stature and has set a standard to which all psychologists aspire.”

This recognition carries special meaning for Dr. Beck, who noted that her father, Dr. Aaron T. Beck, received this same award from PSCP in 1978. She recalled that the ceremony was one of the first times she had ever heard the full scope of his accomplishments described publicly. To receive this honor herself, nearly five decades later, is both a personal and professional milestone.
About Dr. Beck’s Leadership and Accomplishments
Dr. Beck has led the nonprofit Beck Institute for more than 30 years. During that time, she and her team have trained more than 60,000 health and mental health professionals around the world. Online courses developed under her leadership have reached clinicians in over 130 countries, and Beck Institute’s CBT certification program has enrolled more than 1,800 health and mental health professionals who receive training, supervision, and mentorship from Beck Institute’s bench of accomplished faculty and clinical staff.
Accessibility has been an important theme throughout Dr. Beck’s tenure. Through millions of dollars in discounts, scholarships, and financial aid, Beck Institute has opened the door to CBT training for individuals and organizations that would otherwise have been unable to afford it. Dr. Beck has also championed training for non-traditional audiences including peer specialists, paraprofessionals, teachers, corrections officers, and healthcare providers, extending the reach of evidence-based care beyond traditional private practice settings.
Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R)
She has been a particularly strong advocate for Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), an approach developed by her father and colleagues including Paul Grant, PhD, the Director of the CT-R Program at Beck Institute, for individuals diagnosed with serious mental health conditions. Since 2019, Beck Institute has implemented CT-R across psychiatric hospitals and residential, forensic, and community-based settings nationwide, helping individuals connect with others, pursue lives of their choosing, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
In addition to her administrative and clinical work, Dr. Beck is a Clinical Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Penn Medicine, where she has taught third-year psychiatry residents for nearly 40 years. She is the author of seven books, including the landmark 2021 edition of her classic and widely-adopted textbook Cognitive Behavior Therapy: Basics and Beyond.
The staff of Beck Institute congratulate Dr. Beck on this well-deserved honor and thank PSCP for recognizing her extraordinary contributions to the field and to the community.
