Join us for a special, free, open-to-the public session in Philadelphia
In 2007, Dr. Aaron Beck and Dr. Paul Grant and their team began work with Dr. Arthur Evans, then the Commissioner of the Department of Behavioral Health and disAbility Services (DBHIDS) in Philadelphia. Their radical idea: to integrate evidence-based treatment into the entire continuum of care within the public behavioral health system through a marriage of science and the principles of resilience and recovery.
“I have a belief that if we really want to help people to recover that we need to bring in the best science to help us do that,” said Dr. Evans, who is now the CEO of the American Psychological Association.
On November 14, from 6:00pm – 7:15pm Dr. Evans and Dr. Grant, who is Director of the Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy program at the Beck Institute, will present their work in a free, open-to-the-public special session in Philadelphia. This incredible opportunity to hear directly from these pioneering visionaries is available through a special partnership with the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, who is sponsoring the session as part of their 2024 annual conference.
Registration is free, and you do not need to be a member of ABCT, or even attend the conference to join us for this session, which will be moderated by Beck Institute President Dr. Judith Beck.
In the video below, Drs. Evans and Beck reflect on the phone call that sparked a partnership that benefitted the most vulnerable and at-risk populations in Philadelphia—and created a model that can be replicated elsewhere, to the benefit of many more.
We hope you enjoyed this video and that you’ll join us to learn more this November.
