Question: What are some CBT research questions that still need to be answered?
Answer: Although there is already some research on the following topics, additional studies are needed to answer these questions:
- How can we make sure that CBT-based AI chatbots alert human therapists when individuals are suicidal?
- How can CBT be effectively integrated into the curricula of all graduate mental health programs?
- Who will benefit more from CBT than another treatment? What genetic, epigenetic, cognitive, emotional, societal, and environmental factors explain the variability of CBT’s effectiveness?
- How should CBT continue to be adapted for different cultures, races, religions, ages, etc.?
- How can AI improve CBT supervision and assessment of clinicians?
- How can lay counselors and peers with lived experience be most effectively trained?
- How can the integration of psychedelic drugs with CBT improve client outcomes?
- How can we apply findings from neuroscience and cognitive science to increase the efficacy of CBT?
- How can CBT improve the sense of well-being among individuals who do not have psychiatric disorders or psychological problems?
