Beck Institute (BI) is mourning the loss of board member and friend Barton “Bart” Silverman, who passed away on March 31, 2022. Bart was a founding board member of Beck Institute and a stalwart champion of CBT. During his 27-year tenure on our board, Bart served as a trusted advisor on nonprofit finances. Bart helped manage BI’s financial investments, which support the day-to-day operations and growth initiatives of the organization. His business acumen and steady hand helped keep BI fiscally sound throughout our decades of service. His characteristic wit enlivened our board meetings. And his incredible dedication to doing good in the world enriched our community.
Bart’s commitment to philanthropy went beyond Beck Institute: he served on the board of several Philadelphia-area charities after his retirement from Goldman Sachs. His work with the Independence Foundation and other charities honors his legacy. “Bart did so much good for the Philadelphia region, and for Beck Institute. He was an exceptional person and a pleasure to work with,” said Beck Institute President, Dr. Judith Beck. Bart will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
