Recovery Extends to All

The Beck Institute Center for Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) exists to empower individuals to flourish in the lives of their choosing. Our team promotes and implements the revolutionary practice of CT-R in multidisciplinary settings with individuals given a diagnosis of a serious mental health condition.

What is Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy?

Guided by Dr. Aaron T. Beck’s cognitive model, Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R) provides concrete, actionable steps to promote recovery and resiliency. Originally developed to empower individuals given a diagnosis of schizophrenia, CT-R applies broadly to individuals experiencing extensive behavioral, social, and physical health challenges. CT-R is highly collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based and focuses on developing and strengthening positive beliefs of purpose, hope, efficacy, empowerment and belonging.

How is CT-R Different?

Organizational Training and Implementation

The CT-R team trains multidisciplinary staff (clinicians, direct care staff, peers, etc.), helping agencies and systems develop implementation strategies that foster sustainability. Our team partners with health and mental health systems, providers and their staff, and individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges, to promote culture change and transform care.

“Powerful. I deeply appreciate the emphasis on meaning. As a former hospital chaplain, I get the importance of meaning. A huge thank you to the instructors and staff. I hope to do this again. And I am grateful that it could be done via Zoom. Thank you. ”
Therese B. , AMFT
