Staff Psychologist
Dr. Elisa Nelson is a Licensed Psychologist. She obtained her PhD in clinical psychology from Hofstra University and completed an APA-accredited internship at Bellevue Hospital Center. Elisa hopes to help individuals with schizophrenia live meaningful lives using Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy. Her research has mainly focused on negative symptoms, and her dissertation examined both cognitive and psychological variables underlying impairments in effort-based decision-making in individuals with schizophrenia spectrum disorders. She is also interested in working with and better understanding individuals in the early stages of severe mental illness.
