Accelerated group supervision is offered to groups of four clinicians. Each group is matched with an expert supervisor who provides mentorship, feedback, and opportunities for reflection critical to improving CBT skills. Participants complete our CBT in Practice: Essentials II course (available for purchase) prior to beginning supervision. Accelerated group supervision is the most affordable way for clinicians to complete the supervision requirement for BI CBT Certification.

The cost per 5-session term is $1000 per group member and trainees earn 4 CE credits each.

Prerequisites for Accelerated Group Supervision

To participate in accelerated group supervision, trainees must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of a Beck Institute workshop or on-demand course, either individually or through your employer, or the equivalent
  • Proof that you are licensed to practice psychotherapy in your locale (if required by your country)
  • Access to at least 1 consenting client; Beck Institute is unable to provide clients
  • The ability to submit at least 2 audio or video recordings of therapy sessions electronically
  • Supervisees should submit session recordings with clients who have been seen for at least three sessions

How It Works

Before Beginning Supervision

Trainees who are completing accelerated group supervision to fulfill the requirement for Beck Institute CBT Certification must purchase and complete our self-directed CBT in Practice: Essentials II course before their term of supervision begins.

While not mandatory, we strongly encourage all trainees who enroll in accelerated group supervision to complete this course to get the most out of their supervision experience. Through videos, readings, and practice, this self-directed preparatory program introduces the structure and components of a CBT session and addresses how each corresponds to the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale-Revised (CTRS-R©) items. This course was designed to help trainees be successful in our supervision program.

During Your Term of Supervision

  • Accelerated group supervision terms include 5 sessions.
  • Sessions are conducted every 2 to 3 weeks via Zoom meeting platform.
  • The first session of supervision serves as an introductory session. Here, you will be introduced to your fellow group members and collaborate to establish a group submission schedule. No session submissions are required for this initial session.
  • At least 7 days before each subsequent supervision session, one clinician will submit a session recording. Your supervisor will review the submitted recording and score them on the CTRS-R©.
  • All group members, including the supervisee who uploads their own recording, should also listen to the session and rate it using the CTRS-R©.
  • To successfully complete the program, your submission must receive a score of 22 or above on the CTRS-R©.

After Your Term of Supervision

  • You will submit a final, post-supervision recording within 2 weeks of your final supervision session.
  • If your previous submission did not receive a score of 22 or above, you will have the option to have this recording scored, providing a second opportunity to pass the program.
  • You will complete an evaluation at the end of your term.
