Training Description

Beck Institute’s 2021 Beck Scholar, Tania Morales-Vigil, PhD, held a free guest lecture on Friday, July 8, 2022. Dr. Morales-Vigil presented a transformational Spanish-language recovery-oriented cognitive therapy group therapy manual for providers working with individuals given serious mental health condition diagnoses.

In her lecture, Dr. Morales-Vigil described the significant cultural and therapeutic implications of the manual, along with how it was developed as part of the Beck Scholar program. The culmination of a year of tailored training and consultation with Beck Institute Center for CT-R experts Paul Grant, PhD, and Ellen Inverso, PsyD, this manual is available at no cost – increasing access to valuable therapy resources for providers and consumers in Spanish-speaking communities worldwide!

About the Presenter
Tania Morales-Vigil, PhD

Dr. Tania Morales-Vigil earned a master’s degree in Behavioral Medicine and a PhD in Psychology and Health at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During her doctoral studies, Dr. Morales-Vigil did pioneer work as the first person to implement Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy in Mexico.

Dr. Morales-Vigil was invited to become a Beck Institute Scholar for the 2021 year and received supervision from CT-R originator Paul Grant, PhD, and co-developer Ellen Inverso, PsyD. Together they worked to develop a Spanish-language manual of CT-R for groups. She has also published research papers on depression, anxiety, chronic pain, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
