Add Event 10/30/2021 11:30 am 10/30/2021 12:50 pm America/New_York Maternal Mental Health in 2021: Challenges, Opportunities, and Recommendations This important panel discussion will explore the unique health and mental health challenges facing mothers, families and children. Although statistics show that one in five childbearing people will experience a mental health condition during the perinatal period, the majority will not receive treatment. Untreated maternal mental health conditions can have a devastating impact on health outcomes for both parent and child. Understanding the risk factors and barriers to care are critical to reaching the most vulnerable and providing accessible, affordable, and culturally-sensitive care. Prominent leaders in the fields of public health, perinatal mental health, and maternal-child health will discuss issues of access and equity in care and the impact of continuing stressors related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Panelists will take a holistic view of the issues facing mothers and children today and will provide recommendations for mental health and allied health practitioners who work with this population.
