Acting Director of CBT Programs

Sofia M. Chernoff, PsyD, MSEd, is a clinical health psychologist, educator, and supervisor overseeing training initiatives and clinical services as Beck Institute’s Director of CBT Programs. Dr. Chernoff contributes to CBT content, design, and daily operations of Beck Institute programming for individual providers and organizations. She also enjoys teaching workshops and providing supervision to mental health and health professionals around the world.

Dr. Chernoff earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from La Salle University. She completed an APA-accredited internship and a postdoctoral fellowship at WellSpan Health under the supervision of Dr. Allen Miller. Dr. Chernoff also earned a Master of Science in Education degree from University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.

As a clinical health psychologist, Dr. Chernoff is especially interested in CBT interventions and programs designed to improve the lives of individuals with chronic health conditions. Prior to joining Beck Institute in 2021, she worked in a large academic medical center where she provided behavioral medicine services to adults presenting with a variety of acute and chronic pain syndromes, and also trained and supervised medical and psychology trainees. Dr. Chernoff has also worked in outpatient behavioral health settings, primary care, ObGyn, and specialty medical clinics.

Dr. Chernoff is a Beck Institute CBT Certified Clinician (BICBT-CC).
