Student and Early Career Professional Workshop

Supporting the next generation of clinicians with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) training

This workshop will be hosted online.

Our expert CBT training, specifically designed for students and early career professionals.

We’ve developed this special workshop, based on our CBT for Depression course, to be an ideal first step for any graduate student or new clinicians with under 5 years of practice. It’s only offered once a year at a reduced cost and is a wonderful opportunity to learn and network with other young trainees from around the world.

Learn how to conceptualize clients with depression, plan treatment based on an individualized conceptualization, establish the therapeutic relationship, instill hope, and use effective cognitive and behavioral strategies to motivate clients to complete homework, modify their maladaptive thinking and behavior, and solve problems on their own. Participants will learn how to elicit and respond to clients’ feedback, measure progress, and prevent relapse. The third day of training focuses on identifying and assessing suicidal clients, implementing specific strategies for preventing and managing suicidal crises, and ethical issues.

We welcome all graduate students, psychiatric residents, pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, and other mental health trainees with an interest in CBT. Clinicians in their first five years of practice and pre-licensed professionals are welcome to attend.

Our 2020 Workshop will take place from August 3-5.

Each year, Beck Institute holds a scholarship competition for graduate students and early career professionals in a health or mental health field interested in attending this workshop. We award ten applicants from a variety of health and mental health fields a full scholarship to the workshop.
