CBT for Trauma
This workshop will be hosted online.
Learn the comprehensive CBT approach for trauma in this experiential workshop at Beck Institute. Led by Stefanie T. LoSavio, PhD, ABPP, this workshop focuses on the CBT conceptualization of and treatment for trauma.
Learn to assess and conceptualize PTSD patients, plan individualized treatment, and engage trauma clients in the therapeutic relationship. Develop treatment plans that will help clients process traumatic events, tolerate stimuli that are reminders of events, and reduce their level of avoiding reminders of trauma, ultimately decreasing the impact of that trauma on the lives of your clients and helping them improve their level of functioning.
The theory and applications of three approaches to treating trauma will be presented: Cognitive Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure. Multiple treatment procedures for different stages of treatment for trauma will be introduced. Techniques on how to effectively relive traumatic events, identify and evaluate thoughts and beliefs about trauma, associate beliefs with their impacts, restructure maladaptive cognitions, create hierarchies, and use of imagery and in-vivo exposure will be included. In addition, participants will learn to assess and plan for co-morbid conditions including substance use, depression, and suicidal tendencies. Throughout the workshop, participants will hear didactics, observe demonstrations, and practice skills.
Do you treat active-duty or veteran military members or their families? If so, you may qualify for our Soldier Suicide Prevention Scholarship. Learn more and apply.
