CBT for Chronic Medical and Pain Conditions

This workshop will be hosted online.

This workshop, taught by Allen Miller, PhD, will focus on the application of CBT to patients with chronic medical and pain conditions. Participants will learn to conceptualize and treat patients according to the cognitive model, use motivational techniques, develop treatment and action plans, and utilize a variety of CBT techniques to mitigate suffering, improve levels of functioning and increase their overall quality of life. Dr. Miller will discuss the significance of the therapeutic relationship in CBT to motivate your patients to make real changes in their lives. Techniques will be presented to help patients respond to dysfunctional beliefs related to hopelessness, discouragement, and unfairness—and other cognitions that undermine their motivation and sense of self-efficacy. This interactive workshop includes case discussions and experiential exercises. The workshop offers practical tools useful for planning and implementing treatment for patients with a variety of chronic medical and pain conditions.

This workshop is designed for health and mental health professionals, including Physicians, Nurses and Psychiatrists who treat patients in medical settings.
