Dr. Joseph Keifer is a Postdoctoral Fellow and Licensed Psychologist. He received his doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.) from the Institute of Graduate Clinical Psychology at Widener University. He completed his two-year APA internship through Widener University at Capital Health Regional Medical Center and Philadelphia Community Treatment Teams (CTT). Joseph’s dissertation focused on the experiences of first responders (e.g., police and firefighters) who are in recovery from drugs or alcohol and their experience entering recovery. Before pursuing his doctorate in psychology, he worked full time as a Registered Nurse. He received his Bachelors in Science in Nursing from Widener University. As a nurse, he worked in the fields of critical care, psychiatric, and detox nursing. Joe is interested in utilizing Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy to support and collaborate with nurses and other providers to help individuals with serious mental illness to achieve a life of their choosing. Joe provides consultation in the City of Philadelphia and the State of New Jersey. He has developed presentations on Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy and its implementation by nurses for national and state nursing conferences.
