We require all clinicians pursuing Beck Certification to complete our online course, Essentials of CBT: The Beck Approach. Even when experienced clinicians whose chosen orientation is CBT revisit the essentials, they learn strategies to make their treatment more effective, and for newer therapists, the course provides a framework around which future learning in specific diagnoses and populations will be built.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) had implications for Ann’s life that she never anticipated. After learning that her penchant for eating fatty foods and smoking cigarettes exacerbated her symptoms and discomfort, she started to make lifestyle changes.
There is a direct correlation between fidelity to the model Dr. Aaron Beck established so long ago and positive outcomes for clients. That is why we are establishing Beck CBT Certification. It is our nonprofit mission to “Improve lives worldwide through excellence in CBT.” We recognize that raising the bar on quality is a key contribution to the field and one we want to make.
Ultimately, Beck Certification is for behavioral health professionals who are dedicated to achieving a high level of expertise in the delivery of CBT according to the Beck Model and who are on a life-long journey of continuous learning.
